I’m always forgetting where to put the new GeoIP database when I download it for awstats, so I figured that I’d document the process here:
Download the latest GeoIP.dat.gz database into /usr/local/share/GeoIP/ and unzip.

March 19, 2004Weird things with remote access
March 19, 2004As we prep for our GroupWise to Exchange migration, we needed to remove an existing server from the network and reassign the remote access (PPTP) server to another machine. After doing that, one of our heavy remote access users is experiencing extremely slow connections. They are so slow that he can’t get anything done. We’re [...]
Exchange is alive at work
March 18, 2004We have finally got our Exchange server installed on the production. This was the first major step on our GroupWise to Exchange migration. We still have a long way to go, but we’re moving forward. My application developer just finished writing a tool that will us to convert the GroupWise address book to a format [...]
It’s fixed
March 18, 2004Can you believe that there is a hidden reset switch on a laptop. I’ve had a Sony Viao laptop that won’t power-on. No matter what we did would get it work. I got out the volt meter to make sure that the power adapter was supplying power. Well I brought it into the office today, [...]
Review: Drowning World by Alan Dean Foster - 2 stars
March 18, 2004I finished Drowning World: A Novel of the Commonwealth a couple of nights ago. While it had one interesting plot twist, Foster’s formula is starting to get a little old and tired. I still enjoyed the book and it is easy reading so that makes it perfect for reading late a night or in short [...]
Give me a break (part 2)!
March 18, 2004Found out that Dad actually broke his arm when in Ghana (see this post for details about the event). His arm was still hurting so they finally did some x-rays and saw that it was broken. They are trying to schedule an appointment to see a specialist. Hopefully it won’t require surgery.
Give me a break!
March 17, 2004This has been the winter of colds for me. The upset intestinal issues I had on Sunday, seem to have transformed into a standard cold. Nothing major, just run down and drainage. I can’t wait for the weather to stop changing and the cold season to be over.
Baby kicks
March 16, 2004I got busy and forgot to post this. I felt the baby kick on Saturday and Ellie felt the baby kick last night. Pretty exciting!
Under the weather
March 15, 2004I was feeling quite under the yesterday. I had a stomach thingy (maybe a virus, maybe something I ate) anyway I slept much of yesterday and did very little on taxes. I’m feeling better today (not 100% but closer). Hopefully I have time and energy this week to finish them.
Amavis-Stats fix for rrd_graph(): 127 error
March 15, 2004The fix for the amavis-stats::error: rrd_graph(): 127 with Amavis-Stats has to do with the path to rrdtool. I’m sure that there is a better way, but my quick and dirty way was to hard code the path for rrdtool into the amavis-stats.php file. I did this on line 82 of amavis-stats.php
I changed it from:
$cmd = [...]
