Year End Review

As we come to the end of 2004 and the first anniversary of this blog it has caused me to reflect on all that happened this past year. Watching Ellie grow up; watching Fern grow out (with the baby); watching Sarah be born, and seeing her grow (up and out); seeing the love that Ellie [...]

39 Books

Amazingly I read (or listened to) 39 books during 2004. While most were Science Fiction in nature, there was a smattering of other types including: a history of Catholic church, a book about single sex education, a great bread cookbook, and an autobiography. You can check out the complete reading list on my Book List [...]

Future Figure Skater

Ellie went ice skating for the first time today. My parents took all of us to the new outdoor ice skating rink in Cuyahoga Falls. Everyone but my dad skated, her took pictures. Ellie loved it! She started out slowly holding the wall, holding our hands, and going slowly. Towards the end she met a [...]

Spam Karma to the Rescue

As the blog comment spamming trend increased I realized that I needed to implement some time of solution. After trying a couple I landed on Spam Karma. It has been working great for me. In the past two days it has blocked at least 300 attempted spams.

Post Christmas Sickness

In typically fashion at least one us gets sick over the Christmas holiday. In this case it was me. I went to bed tired and late on Christmas Eve (not a unusual situation for parents), and I woke up feeling very crappy. My throat was sore, I was stiff and a little achy, and had [...]

Merry Christmas

From our family to yours, we wish you a Blessed Merry Christmas.
Ken, Fern, Ellie, and Sarah

First Food

Today we fed Sarah her first solid food. Rice cereal, yummy. She seemed to like it, so much so that we gave her seconds. She also had some plain water for the first time. Its amazing how fast they grow up. It just seems like yesterday that we were bringing her home from the hospital.

Comic Relief

For a change a pace I thought that I would share a list of the comics that I read on a daily basis. Three of them are mainstream comics and the other two are web only.

User Friendly
User Friendly is the uber-geek cartoon. The cast of characters work at a small ISP and they are definitely [...]

Sarah Rolls Over

Sarah rolled over for the first time yesterday. It happened sometime during the day so I did not see it, but Fern tells me that she rolled from her back to her front. She still had her arm stuck behind her. Hopefully she will do it again soon so that I can see.

Over the Top Parenting

I ran across The Trixie Update site today while surfing. The site is the most extreme example of geek parenting that I have ever seen. They track, graph, and perform trend analysis on their child’s sleep patterns as well as diaper usage. Be sure and check out the graphs and stories of her sleep, diapers, [...]

Some Holiday Cheer

In the spirit of Christmas, I felt that a little change in the layout of the site was needed. Enjoy!

I Used to Love My Cable Connection

Well, once again my cable connection is out. I used to love my cable modem, but now I’m not very happy with it. It snowed (really freezing rain, followed by snow) tonight, so I wonder if that had anything to do with it. I placed a call to Comcast and they will have a tech [...]

Ellie’s Dance Recital

I had great pleasure of attending Ellie’s first dance recital. The recital was part of her last Ballet and Fairy Tales class. They started off showing the parents all of their warm up exercise, followed by all of the steps that they had learned. The recital at the end of the class highlighted all of [...]

Good Trip, Great Food

My one day trip to Tampa, Florida went without any hitches. The plane ride was fine. We had a very productive meeting. It started basically the moment we landed and continued non-stop until the plane took off to take us home. Needless to say we were beat by the time we got home. One of [...]

Leaving on a Jet Plane

Tomorrow morning I fly to Florida (Tampa area) just for the day. I am going to visit an accounting and project management software vendor, BST, that we are evaluating for use at our firm. While I typically do not mind flying, I’m a little anxious about this flight for some reason. It will be a [...]
